Nature Morte
As a series that explores themes of scale, memory, and identity, blending stillness and life into snippets of memory from her childhood, Nature Morte draws inspiration from Spatariu's experience as an art student in Eastern Europe and her struggles as an immigrant, where she embarks on a journey of self-discovery and healing - something that she felt had slipped away as her Romanian roots were slowly overshadowed by her longing to belong in a Canadian society. This collection of paintings serve as tribute to her heritage and experiences, as she continues to reflect on her life as a newcomer.
